Some of you might not have had heard of this Chicago classic, but especially for those from the South Side this is a iconic dessert that it unique like no other. This isn't just a ice cream shop, but rather a shop that specializes in exactly what they call themselves, the rainbow cone. This ice cream cone consists of five different flavored scoops of ice cream topped together which make it look like a rainbow of colors. The flavors (in order from bottom to top) are chocolate, strawberry, palmer house, pistachio, and orange sherbert. When these flavors are stacked in that order, though it may sound weird, go really well together and taste delicious! We went to our local Buona Beef which during that week had their truck! You can check on the website to see where the truck will be, as it rotates different locations all the time, and when they do come, they are only there for a few days so before careful not to miss it! At Buona Beef stores itself they do sell rainbow ice cream cakes from The Original Rainbow Cone too for dessert which is equally delicious! Besides the truck The Original Rainbow Cone has two actual locations in Chicago to visit as well, and there you will find more ice cream flavor options and milkshakes. The original location is on Western Ave, and there is an additional location at navy Pier. These iconic cones are definitely worth a taste if you happen to see their pink polka-dot truck, or be exploring the city.
