We love making desserts and new foods! However, we have a tendency to make foods that taste good but look bad. This is the first article in our series labeled: Looks Bad, Tastes Good. To be able to see all of the looks bad tastes good posts in one web page, just click the categories button on the right hand side of this page! We attempted to make a beautiful Mickey Mouse chocolate cake. Our first attempt failed very badly. We took out the cake too soon out of the freezer and then the whole cake fell apart on us. We don't like mousse or jam so we replaced that with a LOT of chocolate pudding and cool whip. Put it this way, pudding takes a lot longer than 1 hour to freeze completely. We ended up refreezing this cake and covering it in chocolate ganache. It looked terrible but tasted good!! If you want to recreate it, we just took chocolate cake, layered pudding on top, and then put cool whip and chocolate ganache on top. We did a milk chocolate ganache, which made the cake rich but good. Our second attempt turned out much better than our first attempt. We layered the cake with homemade buttercream frosting and made homemade marshmallow fondant which looks great and tastes amazing! We will post the marshmallow fondant recipe under our original recipes tab in the future! This cake we finished off with a mirror glaze which is condensed milk, sugar, gelatin, and white chocolate chips and gel food coloring. This cake was very good!
